ZeroTrace AirLeak Pro
Safety & Care
Battery safety, RF safety, handling, storage and disposal
AirLeak Pro contains a lithium-ion cell and transmits during active Ops. Treat both with respect. The on-board protection guards against electrical abuse, but it can't protect against physical damage or misuse.
Battery safety
Do:
- Use only a single, undamaged 18650 Li-ion cell (see Power & Battery).
- Insert the cell the correct way round, match + / − to the holder.
- Charge from a standard USB-C 5 V source, on a hard, non-flammable surface.
- Remove the cell for long-term storage.
Don't:
- ❌ Use damaged, swollen, dented or leaking cells, dispose of them properly.
- ❌ Force a cell that doesn't fit (e.g. an over-length protected cell).
- ❌ Short the holder terminals with keys, coins or tools.
- ❌ Expose the cell to heat, fire or water, or leave it in a hot car.
- ❌ Charge a non-rechargeable or wrong-chemistry (e.g. LiFePO₄) cell.
- ❌ Puncture, crush or disassemble the cell.
If a cell gets hot, smells, hisses or swells
Stop using it immediately, move it somewhere non-flammable if safe to do so, and dispose of it at a battery-recycling point. Never put Li-ion cells in household waste.
RF safety
- Keep antennas attached, especially before running any transmitting Op. Transmitting with a bare connector can stress the radio.
- Transmit responsibly, the Ops suite emits real signals. Only transmit where you're authorized (see Privacy & Legal).
- Don't operate the board pressed against the body during heavy transmit use; give the antennas some space.
Handling the board
- It's bare electronics, handle by the edges, keep it away from liquids and conductive debris.
- Avoid static discharge, touch a grounded surface first, especially in dry conditions.
- Don't flex the board or stress the USB-C port, the microSD slot, or the antenna connectors.
- Keep the debug pads clean; don't bridge them with tools.
Environment
| Factor | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Temperature | Operate within the 18650's and modules' rated range. Don't charge Li-ion below 0 °C. |
| Moisture | Not waterproof, keep it dry; use an enclosure outdoors or in-vehicle. |
| Location | Uses your phone's GPS by default; an optional on-board GPS module needs open sky, see GPS. |
Storage
- For long storage, remove the 18650 and keep it at a partial charge (~40–60 %) in a cool, dry place, in a proper cell case.
- Don't store a fully-drained cell, Li-ion left flat for months can be damaged beyond safe recharging.
- Store the board dry and protected from pressure on the connectors.
Disposal & recycling
- Recycle the 18650 cell at a battery-collection point, never in general waste.
- Recycle the board as electronic waste (WEEE) per your local rules.
